Child Care, LEAP & MAGI - Medicaid

Child Care

The Alamosa County Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) has enacted an enrollment freeze of the CCCAP program effective November 18, 2024. The purpose of the freeze is to enable us to continue providing CCCAP services to current enrollees.

At this time due to new proposed federal changes, the newly implemented provider rate increase, and no additional federal and state funding to support these changes, it was necessary to implement a freeze of the program. It is uncertain how long this freeze will be in effect, but at a minimum one year.

You may complete a Freeze Application, the application will be held and eligibility will not be determined for services. The application will be held in order to reach out to you in the future to determine your continued interest in obtaining services.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)

LEAP is designed to help low-income households with winter home heating costs. The program operates from November 1st through April 30th each year. Eligible households receive one benefit per program year. Since LEAP is not intended to pay the entire costs of home heating, it is important to keep current with payment of your heating bill.

MAGI-Medicaid for Adult and Families

The Affordable Care Act provides a simplified method for calculating income eligibility for Health First Colorado and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) based on what is called Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI). The MAGI rules apply to eligibility determinations for CHP+ and most Health First Colorado programs, except for those programs for individuals over 65 years old and/or for people who have a disability. The use of MAGI standardizes income eligibility rules across all states.
