Northwest Weed Control District Fund Description
The Northwest Weed Control District was formed to assist the citizens of the defined area in the Northwest corner of Alamosa County to control undesirable plants.  The Board members are appointed by the Board of Alamosa County Commissioners the funds are accounted through the Alamosa County Treasurer’s office.  The district Board directs the operation of the Northwest Weed Control District.

2006 Accomplishments

  • Removed ¾ of the Tamarisk within Alamosa County.
  • Continued to make headway with the noxious weeds along the road sides.

 2007 Goals

  • Finish removing the Tamarisk in Alamosa County.
  • Continue the road sides.
  • Will begin to work with land owners to get noxious weeds under control.
  • Landowner education in weed control will be stressed.
