SHERIFF'S OFFICE > Goals & Accomplishments
The Alamosa County Sheriff’s department is made up of 38 full time employees and 109 volunteers. The men and women are hard working and dedicated who function within on or more of the programs. The Sheriff’s Office is made of up several divisions which include: Administration, Patrol, Detention, Victim Advocate,
K-9, Medical, Kitchen, Posse and Reserve, Chaplain, Civil, Training, Dive Team, Search and Rescue, Investigations, Crime Prevention/Community Policing, Tactical and Animal Control. Collectively our team goal is to serve and protect the citizens of Alamosa County
2005 has seen many accomplishments for the Sheriff’s department; however, these accomplishments are over shadowed and burdened by the increasing number of inmates that are statutorily being placed in the Detention Center. From January to October, the detention division processed and housed a total of 1,080 inmates. A remedy to this is our major goal for 2006.
2006 Accomplishments
- Reduced the amount of inmates housed outside Alamosa County. The accomplishment was done through a great deal of sacrificing, dedication and commitment by everyone, especially the Detention staff.
2007 Goals
- Follow through with the 2006 efforts to reach a workable solution for the over crowding issues.
