SHERIFF'S OFFICE > Community Crime Prevention
The Alamosa County Sheriff's Office recognizes the importance of involving the community to help combat crime and increase the quality of police service. Community policing is a collaborative effort between the sheriff’s office and the citizens of Alamosa County.
This combined effort identifies problems of crime and disorder and involves all elements of the community in the search for solutions to these problems. It is founded on close, mutually beneficial ties between the sheriff’s office and community members.
Community policing is a way to help re-energize our communities. Developing strong, self-sufficient communities is an essential step in creating an atmosphere in which serious crime will not flourish.
We have officers who can perform home and business security checks, conduct drug awareness presentations, school presentations (McGruff & Safety Pup). We also have programs for safe seniors, child abuse, drug awareness, neighborhood watch, operation I.D., crime stoppers, and date rape to name a few.
We also appreciate any citizen input on other programs with which our department may be of assistance.
