SAN LUIS VALLEY REGION PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE > Overview

The purpose of the San Luis Valley Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Program (SLVEPR)is to upgrade our local readiness for response to public health emergencies including pandemic influenza and bioterrorism events.

SLVEPR is responsible to the public health agencies in Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande and Saguache Counties as well as the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). SLVEPR is administered locally and is funded and guided by the CDPHE with grants from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Homeland Security.

SLVEPR works closely with local law enforcement, emergency medical services, clinics, hospitals and numerous other private and public entities to reduce illness and to promote recovery from public health emergencies.
