COMMISSIONERS > Meet the Commissioners
Frank Mestas - District Two 2003 – 2006
Frank
Mestas has been a commissioner for Alamosa County for three years.
He is
a third generation County Commissioner. His grandfather
and his father were both very politically motivated and this
influence extended to him. He has always had an interest in helping
his community.
Particularly, he is interested in the silent majority
who never
come forward or requested anything for their own needs. He
has always been a politician at heart and loves to be involved with
government.
Frank’s hobbies are team roping (in the past),
hunting, photography, outdoor activities such as skiing, ice skating
and working with kids
clubs and 4H.
His goal is to see the city and county working together
in continued team efforts that benefit everyone. He would also
like to see more
neighboring counties working together on projects that help keep
costs down for everyone.
Frank has lived in Alamosa County since
1972. He is a cattle rancher by trade, has three children and two
grand daughters. Frank and his
wife have been married for 38 years. His wife, Patricia is also
politically active in community activities like Boys and Girls Club.
She initiated
a cattle drive project with proceeds going to the Alamosa Boys
and Girls Club.
Frank is involved in land and water rights issues. He
believes that water originating in one basin should remain in that
basic, not just
Alamosa County but all six counties in the valley. Some of his
major concerns are senior citizens needs and education from K-12.
Frank
wants to see quality education.
Commissioner Mestas is very proud
of all the department directors and county employees who do everything
they can to help the County
Commissioners and the valley community members. |
