Officer
Melanie Woodward, Chief Elections Officer
As prescribed by State law, the Clerk
and Recorder is the Chief Election Officer for the County, charged
with maintaining the election commission
and any other duties required by Secretary of State.
This office
is responsible for Electors, Elections, and Voters. As such, the
Clerk and Recorders office registers qualified Electors
(CRS 1-2-202 & CRS 1-1-110) and updates changes in their addresses and party
affiliations. Regarding all Primary, General and Special elections,
this office
appoints election judges, publishes notices of elections, administers
and supervises the conduct of all elections (CRS 1-1109) within
Alamosa County, and prints and distributes ballots.
For the citizens
of Alamosa County, the Clerk and Recorder registers them as voters,
educates the public about elections, and answers
questions regarding candidates and polling places. This process
includes advising school and municipal offices of requirements
and regulations
of elections.
