CLERK & RECORDER > Vital Statistics
The Clerk and Recorder serves as Registrar of Vital
Statistics, which is an arm of the Colorado State Department of Public
Health and Environment. The Department of Public Health appoints
and approves the local Registrar, who is charged with maintaining
birth and death records and reporting such information to the State.
In
2004, through the Clerk and Recorders office, birth and death records
became available on-line. Presently, on-line birth records
can be retrieved back to 1906, with the ability to access a complete
birth and death database back to the year 1900.
Additionally, the Clerk and Recorder provides on-call Registrar
service for Alamosa County mortuaries.
