ADMINISTRATION > Tourism (ATDB)

The Alamosa County Tourism Development Board (ATDB) was developed to manage the marketing effort for the county to bring visitors to Alamosa County while providing them with the best attractions, events and services Alamosa could possibly offer.

Funding for this effort comes from a 1.9% lodging tax that generate approximately $100,000 annually. This seven member board consists of the same seven members of the Local Marketing District Board described below. This system of share board members ensures that the efforts of the two entities are not duplicated and work collaboratively with the same short and long term plans. The work of the ATDB is managed by the Executive Director of the Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, Debra Goodman, with the assistance of her staff.

The Board’s efforts include:

  • A Grant Program that provides funds for events and attractions in support of their marketing efforts to attract visitors to the area
  • A website (the current website www.alamosa.org). A new website is under construction that will serve the purpose of attracting visitors to the area, providing visitors with information needed to plan their trip to the San Luis Valley, providing information to potential new residents, attracting new business to the area and marketing the offerings of the members of the Chamber of Commerce. The new site is scheduled to launch in December, 2006.
  • Participation in cooperative advertising opportunities organized by the Colorado Tourism Office including Group Tour Magazine and EnCompass Magazine.
  • Print advertising in the AAA Tour book for Colorado/Utah, Great Lakes Airlines Magazine and regional newspapers on the front range of Colorado.
  • Television segments airing on travel shows on Cable TV.
  • A billboard campaign.

Board Members:

  • President: Terry Smith, owner of Century 21 Real Estate
  • Vice-President: Fred Bunch, Great Sand Dunes National Park
  • Treasurer: Clancy Spicer, owner of Inn of the Rio Grande
  • David Broyles, President of First Southwest Bank
  • Charlotte Bobicki, representative to US Senator Ken Salazar
