ADMINISTRATION > Marketing Districts
It is the goal of the Alamosa County Events and Facilities Local Marketing District Advisory Board (LMDB) to support the growth and development of an Alamosa County history museum activities, convention activities and the building of a Visitors’ Center. Funding for this effort comes from a 3.9% lodging tax that generates approximately $200,000 annually.
This seven member board consists of the same seven members of the Alamosa Tourism Development Board. This system of shared board members ensures that the efforts of the two entities are not duplicated and work is done collaboratively with the same short and long term plans. The work of the LMDB is managed by the Executive Director of the Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, Debra Goodman, with the assistance of her staff.
The Board’s efforts include:
-
A Grant Program that provides funds for events organized by local non-profit organizations in support of their marketing efforts to attract visitors to the area
-
Funding support for the development of an expanded area history museum
-
The creation of an improved Alamosa County Visitor’s Center and Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce offices
-
